Aequus Nox

The sun dropped below the horizon at 6:21 today.

Autumnal Equinox the island of Hawaii

Like some ancient medicine man I have waited and watched. Aligning the sights. Two more suns will be the day. Near balance of light and dark. At my village the days grow ever shorter. The long descent into darkness until the solstice of winter. Then ever slowly the sun will move north again. Once more aligning on the very spot. In six months we will plant new seeds for our food.  I can tell my tribe now is the time of harvest and gathering in preparation for the hungry time. The festivals can now begin. Dance.
